IVCA Feature: Eight Online Articles on Diversity Issues

One of the more interesting background elements of recent social movements like #MeToo was the spotlight on workplace environments that, because of the nature or recruitment of their businesses, don’t have enough diversity to recognize or react to human resource situations. The investment world has typically been a male domain, but there are several factions and movements formulating to bring in more diverse talent. The IVCA – which as an association has been a leader in forwarding these issues – highlights eight online articles about diversity, both the topic and success stories.

A point of view from a California legal firm: “Venture capitalists and private equity financiers in Silicon Valley wield tremendous power over tech entrepreneurs, even though they do not have business relationships with the employees of the companies they fund ... The same could be said for producers and directors in the movie industry who don’t employ or have direct business relationships with their accusers.”

A whole website dedicated to a non-profit partnership that promotes VC diversity: “Venture Capital is funding the future. The decisions made by VCs filter through to the whole community and we have a responsibility to ensure the right decisions are being made. We need the industry to be free from bias.”
