Nonprofit with venture capital model seeking new board members

A Better Chicago, a nonprofit venture philanthropy that aims to change how Chicago fights poverty, is seeking additional Board and Leadership Council members to provide strategic guidance, oversight, and support to the organization. A Better Chicago leverages a venture capital approach by investing in only the most promising and bold ideas that provide impactful, scalable opportunities for youth living in the city’s most vulnerable communities. Since 2010, A Better Chicago has raised more than $55 million to invest in its diversified portfolio of nonprofit organizations and to support over 100 capacity-building projects—ranging from strategic planning to leadership development—to strengthen the organizational capacity of its grantees. In total, A Better Chicago’s portfolio serves over 43,000 youth annually in the Chicago area.

Role Summary:
7wireVentures (“7wire”) is seeking a Director of Communications to join our team. This role is an invaluable opportunity to become immersed in the digital health ecosystem, support entrepreneurs with mission-critical initiatives, and build the 7wireVentures brand. The Director of Communications will be a critical team member that drives the promotion of the unique 7wireVentures hands-on operational support model and ensures that the portfolio is highlighted in the market. This opportunity is about contributing to and leveraging the fund’s thought leadership and events, as well as spearheading community-building and outreach efforts to help promote the firm. Operating Platform Intern - Jump Capital

The Role

Jump Capital is looking for an entrepreneurial-minded intern to join our operating platform. Jump’s operating team works with portfolio companies to accelerate their growth and position them for long-term successes. We’re a group of operators ourselves and closely partner with founders in four core areas: talent, go-to-market, strategic finance and corporate development.

The internship will be primarily focused on projects that further extend the scalability and relevance of the platform offering. However, there will likely be opportunities to directly engage with and support portfolio company projects. Our internships also have visibility to all aspects of investing activities, from ideation in markets to our investment process and post-investment engagement.
